The short answer
A wrap doesn't damage good factory paint. The vinyl covers it and protects it from minor scratches, UV and winter salt. When the wrap comes off, premium vinyl leaves no glue behind and the paint underneath is just as good as it was before.
When paint can be damaged
Vinyl needs a sound surface. If the paint is already peeling, chipped, rusted or has been repainted badly, the adhesive can pull loose paint off when the wrap is removed. We check the paint before we quote, and if it isn't sound, we'll tell you.
Cheap vinyl is the other cause. Budget films can leave glue behind or come off in small pieces. That's why we use 3M and Avery.
Leaving a wrap on too long
A wrap lasts 5 to 8 years. We don't recommend leaving it on longer than eight: after that, the vinyl gets harder to remove cleanly.
How removal works
We warm the vinyl so the adhesive lets go, peel it off slowly, and clean off any glue that stays behind. After that you can rewrap the vehicle, return it at the end of a lease or sell it. Removal is priced per project, and it's added to the quote when an old wrap has to come off before a new one goes on.
Don't do it yourself
Pulling a wrap off cold, or with a scraper, is how paint gets damaged. If your wrap is old or your business has a new look, bring it to us.
